Chiaravalle di Fiastra’s Abbey
A magnificent monastery surrounded by an enchanting natural scenery, the Abbadia di Fiastra Nature Reserve. In addition to visiting the religious buildings and museums, in the Park it is possible to walk along various paths, rest on the wide meadows and admire the flora and fauna. The Reserve is spread over an area of almost 2000 hectares, completely surrounding the Abbey. It includes trails, horse riding and cycling routes and large and welcoming green spaces, complete with services and numerous activities. In addition to being easily accessible, it has ample parking lots, bars, pizzerias, restaurants and points of sale for local products.
Nature / Hiking
The Lame Rosse di Fiastra are stratifications of rock in the shape of pinnacles and towers, consisting of gravel held together by clay and silts, formed thanks to the erosion of atmospheric agents. Because of the typical red color they present they are often nicknamed “the small Canyon of the Marche”. They are located in San Lorenzo al Lago, a hamlet of the Municipality of Fiastra, between Mount Fiegni (1323 m asl) and Mount Petrella (1155 m asl). Below them flows the Fiastrone river, which originates from the lake of the same name. The possible routes to reach the Lame Rosse are various, but the most common is the one that starts from Lake Fiastra; the itinerary, round trip on the same path, is 7 kilometers long and the difference in height is 200 meters. It is therefore passable for most people: first you walk on a dirt road and then almost always in the shade inside an holm oak forest, where the road becomes a pleasant path. The area is particularly impressive: long stretches of lush vegetation alternate with short glimpses of the lake and a fabulous view of the red of the Lame. Due to the abundance of water, the flora and fauna are very rich. The travel time between there and back is about three hours.

Monti Sibillini National Park
The Monti Sibillini National Park is a gem in the heart of the Apennines: an area rich in natural beauty, trails and activities, an ideal destination for lovers of mountain walks, relaxation in nature, outdoor excursions, outdoor sports . It is a protected natural area that protects the homonymous mountain massif, which extends between the Marche and Umbria, between the provinces of Ascoli Piceno, Fermo, Macerata and Perugia. It covers an area of approximately 71,437 hectares, on a mainly mountainous terrain. The predominant landscape is that of the limestone massif of the Apennine chain. In autumn the spectacle of the foliage becomes the protagonist: the yellow of the chestnut trees, which in this period drop their fruits, mixes with the crimson of the maple passing through the orange shades of the beech trees. The Sibillini have been inhabited since prehistoric times, and find their most original and interesting historical aspect in the myth of the Sibyl, from which they take their name. The curiosity around this legendary female figure, to whom we turned to learn about future events and the secrets of the past, finds many historical and literary confirmations. The Apennine Sibyl is, still today, identified as a protector figure of peasant wisdom, a sort of tutelary deity, whose memory is still rooted in the culture of the residents. The history of the territory of the Sibillini mountains can be read in its splendid medieval villages, including Visso, Castelsantangelo sul Nera, Norcia and Montefortino, in the rural churches and in the hermitages which, in their simplicity, are capable of transmitting the strong spiritual bond of the people of Sibillini with the world of the sacred. This area is not only an ideal destination for mountain lovers, who can walk the numerous trails on foot, by bike or on horseback. The rocky walls of Monte Bove are very suitable for sport climbing, and in the entire area of the park there are atmospheric currents ideal for hang gliding and paragliding enthusiasts. Water sports lovers can then try their hand at rafting and canyoning. The park is also active in winter, thanks to the numerous ski slopes in the municipality of Bolognola.
Macerata and its province are home to numerous naturalistic attractions , perfect for lovers of outdoor activities . Inside the Monti Sibillini National Park , the waters of Lake Fiastra are crystal clear and certainly an excellent alternative to the beaches. The lake offers the possibility of walks, tasty restaurants and even trekking routes . Everything is surrounded by the beauty of the Fiastrone Gorge and the Sibillini Mountains, and by unspoiled nature. Fiastra is suitable for those who love nature and trekking, but also for those looking for the quiet of relaxation by the lake.
